Q) What was the main message about sex and sexuality that you received growing up?
I don’t even have the words; it was a feeling. The topic was either avoided or spoken about with discomfort. I was very curious but felt a lot of shame about sex. There was no real initiation into becoming a woman, my period wasn’t acknowledged, and sex felt taboo. I didn’t feel safe to express my femininity or sensuality.
Q) How did you begin to explore and establish your own beliefs around sex and sexuality?
When I was free to explore, I had no healthy boundaries and poor male role models. So, I was mostly influenced by others behaviours around me. I imagine if I had a family member that understood that and explained the potential of pleasure and connection, I would have viewed sex so differently.
I learnt a lot of valuable lessons and honouring my menstrual cycle really helped me tune into all my feelings, creativity, sexual needs, and life’s desires. Sexual energy is extremely powerful and important to me in my life.

Q) If you had the chance, what would you tell your younger self about sex now?
Pleasure is always available to you. Also, how important sexual energy, connection and boundaries are.
Q) How important do you believe it is to embrace our sexuality?
Sexuality is quite spiritual to me, and I see sexual energy as life force. You can change your life and your body when you channel your sexual energy. It enhances creativity and vitality! Embracing our sexuality, especially as women because it’s been suppressed, and embracing healthy masculinity in men, is so powerful. I like to look in the areas we’ve been shamed and question what pleasure and power we can find there.
Q) What do self-care and self-love look like for you?
Motherhood taught me not to wait for the rare moments of time to yourself, finding pleasure and presence in simple moments can be powerful. Life is just made up of lots of little moments. Enjoying and appreciating cooking as well as eating organic and quality food, treats. Also, hot chocolates on cold days, noticing the beauty in nature, feeling the energy you get from windy, rainy, or stormy weather, breathing, watching the flame flicker from a candle or the smoke coming off incense, laying naked in the sun, swimming in the ocean, playing, having fun, being silly, dancing, honouring and expressing emotions, skin care, dressing in my favourite clothes every day, moving my body walks, work outs, time for connection with loved ones.
I don’t have a partner at the moment and have found it a really powerful time for a conscious clearing. Lots of self-pleasure, self-responsibility, focusing on the life I want and what kind of man I want to attract in the future and feeling into how having that would feel. Also not playing a self-sacrificing role, as we don’t want our sons and daughters growing up doing this too.

Q) What do you love about your body?
How quickly my body responds. I always notice how I’m feeling after I eat or move my body or interact with someone. When I do things that I don’t usually do, that also aren’t treating my body well, I see signs straight away. This motivates me to choose the healthiest option because I know I’m going to feel good from it. Everything is a sign in our body showing us ways to work better together.
Q) What are your top 3 pleasure essentials (tools, toys, resources etc)?
A crystal or glass wand. A romantic story (the Bronze Horseman is a favourite). Juliet gifted me the Yinn Body Oil and Lube and they are my most favourite oils ever! I love using the body oil for breast and womb massage.
Q) What’s an unexpected moment that brought you pleasure this week?
One that surprised me was when I was doing an ice bath. Focusing on my breathing reminded me of birth, it felt sensual. I like finding pleasure in discomfort.
Q) Favourite song to get you in the mood?
In motion by All Day, Fade by Kanye West, and Lost by Frank Ocean.
Q) Favourite ritual related to sex?
I love listening to music and dancing sensually in the mirror.
Q) Do you have any particular people in your life who inspire you to be a sexually empowered person?
I am inspired by my female friendships and when they are open and vulnerable, we enjoy talking about sex and learning from each other.
